Job Highlights – Whitehall Public Library
Whitehall Public Library serves approximately 14,000 residents of Whitehall Borough as well as neighboring South Hills communities of Pittsburgh, PA. I have worked here as a Teen Services and Digital Services Librarian since May 2006.
Digital and Reference Services
- Performs in-person and online reference services for a diverse population.
- Designs, implements and maintains library website based on W3C standards
- Creates web content for website and other social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter & Pinterest.
- Tests and implements web 2.0 technologies to optimize library’s web presence.
- Creates videos to promote library services.
- Designs, runs and evaluates technology workshops and programs for staff and public.
- Trains, evaluates and supervises young adult volunteers for technology-based programs.
Teen Services
- Supervised Teen Advisory Group volunteers for fund raising and community activities
- Developed school outreach programs, most notably, Lunch with the Librarian at Harrison Middle School and Homework Club for middle school aged ELL students.
- Ran Teen Summer Reading Club for 3 consecutive years. Served on Teen Summer Reading Planning committee 2010.
- Evaluated and developed teen fiction and nonfiction collections.
- Responsible for managing Teen Services and Teen Collection budgets.
